We are required to read to the kids for 15 minutes a day in home daycare, and that is met during our quiet snuggle time before nap, so that covers all the requirements except for outside play, active play (which can be the same) and potty/diapering times.įirst, we wash hands before each meal and when we come in from outside play. Meals are 8:30, 11:30 and 3, and nap is from 1-3, that is the main structure for our day. And HOW do you get them all to take a nap?Ĭlick here to see how to make lesson planning easier. Their snack is ready for them when they get up and put their beds away. I let them sleep for about two hours and wake them up at 3. We usually finish lunch around 12 and get cleaned up and start stories by around 12:15, so if we sing and snuggle for 20 minutes, that puts the start of nap around 12:35 or 12:40. I don’t like to feed my kids and put them straight to bed, so after we clean up our lunch, we have quiet stories and songs. Next, I have to figure out afternoon snack time. If I’m serving breakfast at 8:30, then the latest I can serve lunch is 11:30, so that’s a given on my home daycare schedule. It’s so cute, but it also reminds me that I am teaching with every action. I take vitamins every morning with breakfast and every day when I do, this certain little boy will act like he’s doing it too. Sitting down with the kids at every meal if possible helps me model behavior for table manners and eating habits. I want to make sure no one chokes or throws their food on the floor or at each other. I eat with my kids so I can keep an eye on them while they eat. This daycare daily schedule works best for me. It’s hard to serve the kids a meal and having to keep running to the door and greet other kids. I noticed that most people dropped their kids off by 8:15 or so, so I made my breakfast serving time at 8:30. Different parents have different jobs and start at different times. I have kids that come in at all hours of the morning. This doesn’t mean the meal has to fit in those times, it just means you have to begin serving between those times or the meal is not creditable. My food program requires that if I say my lunch is at 11:30, I must be feeding the kids NO EARLIER than 11:15 and NO LATER than 11:45. Over the years of trying out different snack times, I have found that if I feed a morning snack, the kids don’t eat well at lunch and we waste a lot of food, so I just do snacks in the afternoon in my daycare schedule for toddlers and preschoolers. For me, they must be fed every three hours if they are awake. When planning your home daycare schedule, start with your meals first. The first one is, it makes sure you get all of the things into the day that are required. Having routines in home daycare has many benefits. And you have to know your limits as a home daycare provider. There is nothing more important than a daily schedule for kids. When you get to a silver ball with holes in it, look up and climb through the fan vent. Hit this lever and return to the double doors. Look for a gray lever on the right of the bridge. Follow the path revealed on the right to go outside again. Go through the double doors and shut them behind you. Get out of the pipe you are in and follow the mountain pass over the fence to the double doors. Keep clicking through the darkness until you see daylight. Go into the building and down the ladder. Turn to the window again, hit the switch on the right to the up position and turn the lever on the right to the up position. Turn the big wheel first, then look left and switch the lever where the single pipe switches into two. Now go towards the cylindrical building and up the stairs, leading to some switches with a window looking into the building. Turn the lever so it is in line with the middle pipe. Keep to the path of the right and you should come to a hole in the ground with a cart. Then turn around and go through the hole in the rocks. Touch it and make note of the symbol that is revealed and the sound that it makes. Get out of the Maglev and towards what looks like a ball inside the rocks. Once it gets there, get in and hit the lever on the left to turn around and the switch in the middle to go forward. Hit the blue button to summon the Maglev. Leave through the large door that the switch near the view portal opened. Hit the lever next to the portal and continue down the tunnel. Look around in this room and find the red and gold view portal. Go through the door on the left midway through the tunnel. Now you can go away from the gold room across the bridge to the other part of the island. Hit the button three more times, this will help you later. Now return back the way you came to the first button which rotates the room. Follow the catwalk some more and you will find a third lever and pipe. Go across the bridge to the large domed building.įollow the catwalk through the domed building until you come to another lever and a pipe. Now you should see the gold room with a passage leading across a bridge. Go back to the first rotation button again and hit it two more times. Go towards this door, turn around, and flip the switch you see. You should now be facing a passage to a back door on the right. Flip the switch on your left and return to the first rotation button. These kinds of levers power various items on the islands of Riven, so turn it to point to the other pipe and turn back towards the gold room. In the second cave there is a lever on a pipe. You should be back in the gold room again with a passage leading to another cave. Turn around and down the stairs on the other side of the hill. Hit the button four times and you will be facing a dark wall with a peephole. The button to the right of the entrance rotates the room. The room has two doors and five passageways leading from it. Now go up the stairs and turn left where you will see a gold room with image viewers in the form of beetles. Leave the cage and look over the side of the cliff on your right.
“They’re not disposable-feeling, but they don’t feel precious, either,” Kennedy says, adding that he even got married in one he bought on sale for $30. Photographer and rug dealer Mikael Kennedy wears oxford button-downs as often as he wears T-shirts - so he looks for options that both look nice and are affordable enough to buy multiples of. This oxford shirt got the thumbs-up from three of the men we talked to. Style and details: Classic fit, slim fit, tall fit chest pocket pleated back and sleeves locker loop | Sizing: XS–XXL | Fabric: Organic cotton And as oxford-wearing folks know, a good oxford shirt doesn’t have to be white, so we’ve also noted which of our picks come in additional colors. With that said, Guy acknowledges that most people will be perfectly happy with a shorter collar. “So for me, the collar points have to be long enough to express that roll and, ideally, be unlined so that it feels more comfortable and looks more natural,” he says. Many brands offer a slim-fit oxford, which is tapered and slimmer in the arms, chest, and body this style was especially popular in the early 2010s, but recent trends have sparked a return to roomier classic cuts inspired by the original Brooks Brothers oxford.Īccording to Derek Guy, editor at the men’s-style website Put This On and blogger at Die, Workwear, “Different people will draw different lines in the sand for what they think is the most iconic version of the oxford.” The Brooks Brothers design has changed slightly over the years, and for Guy, what’s most important is the collar: “In the last 20 years, as clothes have become slimmer and shorter, collar points have also shrunk to keep proportions,” he says, explaining that the charm of the oxford shirt is all about how the collar ends up having a very sporty and carefree roll. In their most traditional form, oxford shirts have buttons at the collar points, a reinforced chest pocket, pleated sleeves, and back details like a box pleat (to allow for comfortable movement) and a locker loop (conceived so that college students could hang their shirts in, you know, lockers). So to find the very best oxford shirts, we asked 17 fashion experts and other stylish men about the ones they’d recommend. The shirt is now almost as foundational to American fashion as blue jeans, equally easy to wear with a tie or untucked, which is why they are still popular after more than 100 years of existence. Brooks copied the style to start selling it at Brooks Brothers, launching a wardrobe essential among East Coast college kids that helped birth the Ivy Style movement. Brooks, whose grandfather founded Brooks Brothers, noticed polo players in England wearing shirts with buttons that secured the collar. Porter, says the best ones are also easy to care for, “meant to be rugged enough to be taken for granted, balled up and tossed in the wash, dried at whatever temperature, and worn with less of a press than crumpled nonchalance.”Īlso known as the OCBD, for oxford-cloth button-down, the oxford shirt made its debut in the United States in the late 1800s after John E. And on top of being a classic, Chris Wallace, the U.S. According to author David Coggins, an oxford-shirt devotee who also writes a men’s style newsletter called The Contender, pretty much every man looks good in an oxford button-down. It's like a cross between a robot and a green insect. While working for Google, Irina Blok designed the now-famous Android OS logo. That situation does not appear to be changing anytime soon. Apple's iOS is the only platform that can compete with Android on a meaningful level. Symbian, BlackBerry, Palm OS, webOS, and Windows Phone have all been vanquished by it (many of which have died along the way). The OS has surpassed Android as the most popular mobile operating system in the world. Furthermore, Android is used to power smart TVs, automobiles, and wearables, in addition to smartphones and tablets. Android is now the most popular platform for mobile apps. Now, let’s begin properly, for I am sure that no one wants to read me rambling on and on about AARs and the like for the rest of eternity.įor some die hard 4X loyalists, having exterminate being the first X amounts to piling a heresy on top of another heresy, but it’s the only X that is truly practical at the beginning of the game, at least, if you are playing a European nation, anyway. They allow the player to show the story of their nation, no matter how humble its beginning. They even help the developers track down and deal with the occasional bug that managed to evade the team when making the game, and some call AARs the worlds longest bug report. Now it might be personal taste, but I love AARs, and you can learn things from them. Though the game may well catch new players off guard with its depth, it has hints and tooltips available for you to see and the large online community has written plenty of guides and you can read through one of the many, many After Action Reports, or AAR for short. But if you have ever played Europa Universalis III, you are already capable of playing Europa Universalis IV at a decent level. Being able to cover a thousand years of history, or indeed even more, would be a wonder of gaming in my opinion.Įuropa Universalis IV is a complex game, but don’t take that to mean that it’s hard to play! The game has several tutorials and a tutorial campaign, perfect for teaching you the ropes. While the dream of marching a country from the Medieval to the Industrial ages might not yet be here, we could potentially see something like that rather soon. The game ends in 1821, ten years or so short of the start date in Victoria 2. This is definitely a great feature, but I wish that it went forward, too. Even your ruling dynasty name would be carried over. In Europa Universalis 4, the empire would be carried over with a new set of national ideas available. If, for example, you used the Legacy of Rome DLC in Crusader Kings 2, played Byzantium and stopped the fall of their empire and indeed, reversed it and brought it to new heights of glory, you could declare the Roman Empire again. But in Central Europe, the Holy Roman Empire is wracked by internal conflict.Ī good thing about Europa Universalis 4, however, is that you can import a finished save from Crusader Kings 2 into EU4 and it will use it to generate Europe. A little further east, and Muscovy is starting to unite the Russian people. Poland will soon be leading a personal union with Lithuania, both powerhouses. The once mighty Byzantine Empire is now just a spark in what used to be a bonfire, the writing is on the wall for all to see now. In Eastern Europe, other things are changing, too. The Hundred Years’ War rages on between France and England, Spain is completing the Reconquista and Portugal is off exploring for new trade lanes. EU4 starts in 1444 and things are starting to pick up steam in Western Europe. While it might not call itself one, it most certainly is a 4X game, though it has shifted Exterminate to first in the order of Xs. So, without further ado, here is the review.Įuropa Universalis IV, or EU4 in shorthand, is a grand strategy game. I’ve had some issues in real life, the one most affecting my writing capability being a crippling case of repetitive strain injury that all but stopped me from being able to use a keyboard effectively for several weeks. Before we start, I would like to apologize for the review being late. |
